Quick developer update
about 4 years ago – Wed, Jan 19, 2022 at 12:19:40 AM

Firstly, apologies for the silence, and thank you for your continued patience.

We assure you we are working hard to get the game finished, and currently I am working on the final two endings, they just require the sprites slotting in and music / sound effects etc. I am also waiting on a couple of tweaks to CGs and an extra sprite expression for one of the characters. Aside from these things, I also need to add the final touches to our in-game social network (Instasnap) GUI and then slot the backer comments into that.

Hopefully, we will be in the testing stage very soon, which means we can begin fine-tuning the code and ironing out any bugs or glitches before we release. We will keep you guys updated during this testing phase to let you know how things are going.

Needless to say, the game is looking good and I really think you will be more than happy with the final outcome, just as much as we are to give it to you.

To clarify this is the current status of the game:

  • Artwork: 95%
  • GUI / Design: 95%
  • Music: 100%
  • Voice Acting: 100%
  • Writing: 100%
  • Development: 95%

Once again, apologies for the delay and lack of updates but we're nose-to-the-grindstone to get the game ready!

Major Update and Production delay
over 4 years ago – Mon, Oct 11, 2021 at 01:43:18 AM

Hello everyone,

Firstly, so sorry for the lack of updates recently - I promise we are working hard on the game and trying to get it ready as best we can.

However, as the title of this update suggests, we have hit a rather painful stumbling block. We delayed our update until now as we wanted to have a solution ready before we make this public.

Our original character & CG artist has gone AWOL. We've been trying to contact the artist but received nothing in reply for the past few months. And though it was a tough decision, after much discussion and research we have decided to hire a replacement artist to finish all the CGs that were yet to be done.

This does of course mean it has set us back, as CGs are not particularly quick to produce, and given that we have 6 of them to do it could take longer than expected.

Therefore, we have decided to postpone our release date until early next year. We believe this will provide ample time for the CG artist to finish the remaining artwork. It's not ideal that we have to postpone it again, especially when everything else, including writing and music, has been completed.

Here is a snippet of one of the sketches by the new artist Mi Goreng (image cropped and background blocked to obscure any possible spoilers):

Although this inevitably means that the game release will have to be delayed again (much to our chagrin) on the upside it does mean we can spend more time fine-tuning and testing as we go along making sure to release a top-notch bug-free product.

We do hope that this setback has not caused too much upset or disappointment, but I think releasing a game with only a few of the CGs promised would be unfair.

Again, apologies for this unforeseen delay, but unfortunately these kinds of incidents are out of our control. This has also financially set us back as there were advancements paid to said artist. While this won't affect our production, it is unlikely we will be able to recover the outstanding amount. We've always strived to provide our creators with the best environment for creativity but it seems our goodwill has not been reciprocated. In the future, we will review our policy regarding advanced payments as we are fully aware our money comes from our backers, and an artist's lack of integrity is also reflected on us as well.
